Tour overview
Saadani National Park is new wildlife on Tanzania’s Indian Ocean coast, bringing terrestrial and water animals together, making it the only tourist park in East Africa where the bush meets the beach and where the visitor enjoys both photographic safari and water sports. Covering an area of 1,137 kilometers, Saadani National Park is located 160 kilometers northwest of Dar es Salaam on the Chalinze/Segera highway.
The river passes through the park empties into the Indian Ocean, hosts a large population of hippos, crocodiles, flamingos, and many large bird species. Bottle-nose dolphins are common off the southern coast of the park.
Lucky visitors can watch whales passing through the nearby Zanzibar channel between October and November, while the luckiest as well, can observe the green turtle breed at Madete Beach. Equally exciting is the elephant population frolics in the sands. These jumbos sometimes venture into the crashing surf, which alone makes Saadani one of the unique and exciting parks in Tanzania. Ideal for nature lovers, the park offers picturesque views of palm-fringed trees and mangroves on the reserved coastal rain forest inhabited with all African big mammals including elephants, lions, buffaloes, and leopards.

Great experience with Saving Tour. We got to see flamingos just before they migrated. We also saw crocodiles and hippos galore during the boat ride along wami river.
Baboons and warthogs are also there in plenty.
We were lucky to sight a few giraffes but not in luck to sight elephants or lions.
The tour guide was quite helpful and overall we had a good experience
